Raised Reflective Pavement Markers (RRPMs) can reduce the likelihood of night-time casualty crashes by up to 21% (Sun and Das 2013).

The Victorian colour configuration is:

  • Red: left edge line; right side of large splitter islands (diverging traffic)
  • White: along or beside lane lines
  • Yellow: along or beside dividing lines; right edge line on divided road; left side of large splitter islands; median island outline
  • Green: left shoulder on the approach (160m) to an exit nose (and at informal truck parking areas)
  • Blue: Location of water access points (for emergency services)
