Soft tissue injuries are the most common injuries experienced by motorcyclists involved in crashes in Australia, yet there are no mandated clothing requirements (only helmet requirements).

Even if there were other requirements (gloves, boots, pants and/or jacket) the performance of protective clothing in Australia is still highly variable.

One big leap forward in this space has been the Motorcycle Clothing Assessment Program (MotoCAP). It is an independent, free resource that tests gear using rigorous, scientific methods to provide ratings for motorcyclists to choose the right gear with the best protection and breathability for their ride.
