“In what other industry would you find this sort of risk apathy?” was one of Kenn Beer’s thought-provoking questions in his Keynote presentation at the 129th Good Roads conference in Toronto this week.
Kenn was invited to be a Keynote Speaker at the conference which was attended by over 1,500 engineers, councilors and public officials. In typical Safe System Solutions style, Kenn was immediately into a case study of a rural intersection where he gathered audience insights (and gave out prizes) and then unpacked the risk profile at this location.
“The fundamental principles of a safe road and street network are the same across the world” Kenn said. “But of course we always need to work with local practitioners to ensure that these principles are implemented in a context sensitive way”.
