Working on or near the road is one of the most hazardous environments for any profession. Traffic controllers and road workers face significant risks daily. Their exposure to high-speed traffic, distracted drivers, and unpredictable road conditions are just some of the dangers.

That’s why we are so proud of our technical involvement over a number of years in updating to the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (AGTTM). Updated in 2021, this 10-part guide reflects contemporary best practices for Australia and New Zealand, offering a framework for safer, more consistent, and efficient temporary traffic management.

What does the AGTTM cover?

🦺 The guide addresses all aspects of temporary traffic management, including:
🦺 Planning and Design: Ensuring temporary traffic arrangements are well thought out and fit for purpose.
🦺 Implementation and Operation: Providing clear direction for field staff and traffic controllers to ensure safety in dynamic environments.
🦺 Site-Specific Guidance: Covering static worksites, mobile works, and low-impact worksites.
🦺 Sample Layouts and Supporting Guidance: Helping practitioners visualise and apply best practices in real-world scenarios.

By standardising practices across Australia and New Zealand, the AGTTM ensures safer workplaces for road workers and traffic controllers while minimising disruption for road users.
