As vehicles have become more robust and sophisticated, drivers are becoming less aware of the importance of their tyres. Tyres have significantly improved in terms of safety, performance and wear, but they still need attention as one of the vehicle’s most critical components. A study in the UK found that, in 2012, 25 people were killed and 169 seriously injured in crashes where tyres were defective (Road Safety Observatory, April 2014).  

Also, if you’re a motorcyclist, consider where you ride in relation to trucks. There are extra hazards being beside a truck when a tyre blowout occurs.
