Compact Roundabouts – saving lives and money The cost of a full-sized roundabout in many locations is blowing out because of land acquisition, service relocation and native vegetation offsets. The Lance Creek roundabout uses vertical deflection, rather than horizontal deflection, as means of achieving speed reduction on approach to the roundabout while minimising the impact on adjacent land. Also, the mountable apron on the central island means it can be smaller and still accommodate large vehicles. Congratulations to Regional Roads Victoria – this is Safe System in action.
