Compact roundabouts on high-speed roads are cheaper than traditional roundabouts.
Currently, raised safety platforms (RSPs) are used as an alternative to reverse curves to control vehicle speeds on the approaches. But RSPs can be expensive. What if there was an alternative that could reduce the cost of compact roundabouts even further?
Long lengths (400m) of rumble strips have been shown to be effective in reducing overshoot crashes at UK roundabouts and may be a way of driving down the cost of roundabouts even further.
