When conducting Road Safety Audits, it’s essential to consider the point of view of different road users. Recently, our Senior Road Safety Auditor Max McCardel led an audit that involved changes to existing bus stops and parking arrangements. To experience how the proposed design would impact on bus movements, the site inspection involved hopping behind the cab of a public bus. Sight lines and clearances for busses and other heavy vehicles are significantly different to passenger vehicles, which is why one should not just assume how other road users would experience the road environment but rather get a first-hand perspective.
