Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd was engaged by Austroads to project-manage the development of SS2035 – a research report incorporating guidance on the treatment of mixed-use arterial roads to achieve high alignment with Safe System principles. Urban arterials and intersections account for a large proportion of high severity crashes, particularly involving active (vulnerable) road users. This report provides examples outlining and demonstrating how to apply a coordinated Safe System approach to an entire corridor or sub-network, to improve safety outcomes whilst recognising and maintaining mobility demand.
