Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd was engaged to design and develop a five-year Road Safety Strategy for the shire to accommodate a growing community and an increase in vehicles using the road network. This strategy aligns with the Safe System approach and Towards Zero.

Regional Roads Victoria formally recognised this strategy for its community engagement and evidence-based approach. In 2019, Baw Baw Shire Council received a Victorian State Government Road Safety Local Government Initiatives Award for the process and content of their Road Safety Strategy.
