Safe System Solutions’ Max McCardel was interviewed for Channel 7’s Road Torque series about safety on rural roads in Tasmania.
A road safety specialist, Max spoke about the pivotal role of the Safe System approach in reducing road trauma – including the key pillar of safe speeds.
He explained that “even small reductions in travel speeds have a significant road safety benefit” on rural roads.
“It’s actually the locals, the Tasmanians, that are largely representing the trauma statistics on the transport networks – to get even more specific, it’s people that are actually quite close to their home,” he told Channel 7.
Max was featured alongside Road Safety Advisory Council Chair Scott Tilyard.
