When a larger vehicle struggles to turn, the designers’ instinct is often to make the intersection bigger.
That usually means higher speeds for smaller vehicles, more risk for pedestrians and cyclists.
Sometimes a much better option (used here in a constrained site, but can be used in unconstrained locations as well), is to pull back the turn lane to provide swept path space while keeping the intersection tight and safe.
