Safe System Solutions is helping to support safer roads and streets in Kenya by empowering a local road safety leader with practical Road Safety Audit skills and knowledge.
Nairobi-based traffic engineer, Tony Frank, wanted to deepen his expertise in road safety auditing to better identify potential hazards on existing and proposed road projects – and sought out Safe System Solutions from across the globe to take part in our training.
Road Safety Audits are a systematic and detailed examination of road safety concerns and are a proven practice to improve road safety.
Tony received a sponsored place in our recent online Road Safety Audit training course and said it provided “critical skills that are essential for anyone involved in road design and safety”.
“Safe System Solutions’ course provided a globally recognised framework that aligned with my goal of creating safer road environments. Additionally, road safety audits are critical in influencing design decisions, and I felt that the training would empower me to make a stronger impact in this area,” Tony said.
“One of the key benefits of this training is the structured methodology it provides for conducting road safety audits. It has enhanced my ability to assess potential road safety risks and recommend measures that can prevent accidents before they happen.

In his role in Nairobi, Tony focuses on improving the safety and efficiency of local road systems, especially in the urban environment – working on the planning, design, and management of transport infrastructure projects.
“Given the rapid urbanisation and high road traffic crash rates in Nairobi, there’s a pressing need for professionals who are well-equipped to assess road safety effectively,” Tony said.
“This training will significantly support me in advocating for a safer, more inclusive transportation system in Kenya by giving me the tools to perform high-quality audits and influence policy and design decisions.
“As a road safety leader, I now have a stronger foundation to contribute to safer roads and reduced crash fatalities.”
