Safe System Solutions was engaged by the City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) to develop a Safe System Network Safety Plan to identify gaps between the current state of their transport system and Vision Zero.
This Plan defines the Safe System end state for the city’s local roads, identifies high-and medium-risk locations, and prioritises evidence-based treatments. It incorporates a combination of reactive and proactive tools to identify risk and Safe System aligned solutions to guide investment decisions and ensure safety is embedded into all future projects. Consultation with Council officers, stakeholders and the community was a key part of the process to ensure the plan reflected local needs and priorities.
Aligned with the National Road Safety Strategy’s Network Safety Plan approach, this Plan provides CoGG, developers, and stakeholders with a practical tool to deliver a progressively safer road network for all users.
