Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd was engaged to develop additional standards and guidance for the Traffic Engineering Manual Volume 3. This document lists possible treatments to address the issue of car dooring, providing a variety of treatment options and a framework for considering their appropriateness in different scenarios.

The project involved a literature review of best practice treatments for cyclist car dooring issues, engineering analysis of new and innovative approaches, stakeholder consultation and writing the guidance document.
