Last week I was teaching the Road Safety Audit course and running the module on infrastructure design for motorcycle safety. I mentioned that, no matter how you look at it, motorcyclists are significantly over represented in road trauma (which is why Auditors need to be highly vigilant to risks for riders).
That is not to say infrastructure is the only challenge for rider safety. The broader point is that every part of the system needs to be working at full capacity if we want to see meaningful change in the motorcyclist risk profile.
During the session I mentioned this graphic that we produced using aggregated research from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. I did not have it on hand during the course, but I said I would share it on LinkedIn.
