First challenge: madly converting miles to kilometres, feet to metres and inches to millimetres. Ramp grades, thankfully, we speak the same language there.
It’s great to be back. The last ITE Annual Meeting I attended was in Florida over a decade ago, and it’s impressive to see how far the USA has come with roundabouts. They’re building far more of them, and the design thinking has advanced enormously.
Great discussions on designing smaller roundabouts that keep entry and exit speeds down, accommodate all road users safely and still cater for large vehicles without making everything oversized.
Even in the USA they’re realising bigger isn’t always better. Sometimes better is simply better sized.
