One of the things I get super excited about is seeing the growth of the Safe System Solutions technical road and street design team.

Ten years ago, it was basically just Jamie Robertson churning out cross sections, concept designs, the occasional lighting assessment, and bits of technical advice for government clients. We were tiny.

Fast forward to today and that team’s got 13 technical design gurus across Australia and New Zealand absolutely hammering the CAD software, designing Safe System roads, streets, crossings, barriers, roundabouts, raised intersections, traffic signals, signs and lines.

Safe System on the ground. That’s the bit I love.

The Safe System isn’t implemented through policy documents and theory alone. At some point, someone has to roll up their sleeves and actually do the technical design work. Someone has to work through the geometry, the turning paths, the drainage, the staging, the signs, the line marking, the barrier offsets, the speeds, the pedestrian movements, the motorcycle risks.

Proud of what this team has become and even more excited about where it’s heading.

If you want roads and streets designed with Safe System thinking at the centre of the process, shoot me a message or check out the Safe System Solutions website.
